Frank Meijer receives the Cultuurprijs from the Prince Bernhard Cultuurfonds Noord-Brabant.
The jury praises his controlled and narrative handling of built and landscape heritage. 'Frank Meijer's work is among the best that Dutch landscape architecture has produced in recent decades,' said jury chairman Jan Baan.

As co-founder of MTD landscape architects, the continuation of the renowned firm Buys en Van der Vliet, Frank Meijer's oeuvre is extensive.
Within the office, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, Meijer's focus is mainly on strategic area developments and design plans in a historical context.
In Brabant, this can be seen in the Stadswalzone and Zuiderpark, but also in the Museum Quarter in 's-Hertogenbosch, Moerenburg and the inner city of Tilburg, the campus of Eindhoven University of Technology and the entrance square and boulevard of Eindhoven Airport. Outside Brabant, the roof forest on the Collection Building in Rotterdam bears Meijers' signature, realized in collaboration with architectural firm MVRDV.

The jury report describes his designs as 'simple and accurate' and states: 'His designs for city centres, university campuses, roads and airports have a timeless tranquility and are strongly inspired by the context. There he links the story of the place to the users of today in an infectious way. A walnut tree or writing in stone form his signature in these projects.
"Frank Meijer has enriched the reputation of Dutch nature and culture with his stylistically very consistent work," said jury chairman Jan Baan.

The prize, which is associated with an amount of € 10,000, is presented by the King's Commissioner Ina Adema, who is also chair of the Prince Bernhard Cultuurfonds Noord-Brabant. That will happen at a time to be determined, later this year.
