With the operational commissioning of the new viaduct over Hogeweg in Amersfoort (viaduct design by NIO Architects), an initial step has been taken in the development of the new urban district "Hogekwartier" (High Quarter) in Amersfoort. This large-scale development, comprising urban residences and amenities such as shops, sports facilities, catering establishments and a park, is located on both sides of the current entrance into the city (Hogeweg) and between two existing housing suburbs (Schuilenburg and De Liendert). On commission for the Municipality of Amersfoort, and the housing corporation "De Alliantie", and in conjunction with KCAP, DHV and NIO, MTD landschapsarchitecten has made the design for the public space of the "axis of the neighbourhood" (as a connection over the viaduct between the various suburbs), the public space of the housing areas, and the surroundings of the future swimming pool and sports accommodation.
