In 2014, Ruben graduated as a technical designer at the Koning Willem I college in 's-Hertogenbosch. Subsequently, he studied Urban Design at NHTV in Breda. In 2017 he graduated as an urban designer with completing a research project about a climate-adaptive transformation of a campsite, located in the floodplains.

After his studies he worked at Bureau Verkuylen. There he mainly focused on the planning aspects of the development of the outdoor space. Ruben has been working at MTD landscape architects as a technical designer since 2019. Due to his background, he works on the intersection between design and technical development. His work starts with the development of the sketch to the final design and continues to the development of technical aspects and everything in between. Relevant and recent projects on which he has worked are the design plans for the public space of various centers such as Valkenswaard, Tilburg, Boxtel and the Kerkplein in Hoorn. In addition, he has been involved in various urban development and urban developments such as the Klokkenberg in Breda, the Negen Heren in Den Bosch and the Nieuw Bergen project in Eindhoven. He is also active in the field of roof gardens, such as in the development of projects such as the Bakermat in Eindhoven and the Galaxy Tower in Utrecht.
