The fortress rampart is hereby reduced to the 16th centry level, in connection to the the wall walk. A walking route will be introduced over the wall walk, in which the bastion will once again form a viewing point. The bastion will be build in a new shape which ties to its historical appearance, reviving the memmory of a period in which the city of Maastricht was defended from the top of the ramparts.

Since 2020, MTD landscape architects has been working in intensive collaboration with HVN architects on the structural vision and design plan of the public space of De Vijf Koppen, and is looking forward to the moment when the city walk transformation is completed.

In a little bit under a year, the fortifications of De Vijf Koppen can be walked on again!
