The Transformation of the Oude Dijk Monastery Complex in Tilburg has won the 2024 Tilburg Architecture Award! The announcement and award ceremony took place on June 14th in the LocHal. The core team responsible for the transformation of the Oude Dijk Monastery Complex, consisting of Shift Architecture Urbanism, MTD landscape architects, and Van der Weegen bouwontwikkeling, received the award from Alderman Bas van der Pol.
Special compliments to Harm Timmermans from Shift for the quality and significance of the architecture. Additionally, thanks for the inspiring and pleasant collaboration with the architect and developer, where MTD was responsible for the landscape integration and design of the large ‘courtyard’ of this urban infill project.
MTD's contribution to the Oude Dijk Monastery Complex has a long history. In the early 1990s, Ruud Dubbeld had the opportunity to design the renovation and redevelopment of the historic monastery garden. Currently, the monastery area is also part of the strategic inspiration document 'Code Groen,' which MTD created in collaboration with the Municipality of Tilburg and forms one of the strategic public green spaces in Tilburg's public realm.
The Tilburg Architecture Award inspires MTD to tirelessly continue contributing to the spatial quality of Tilburg!
