On Tuesday the 12th of April 2016, the west part of the Markt in Valkenswaard was festively opened in the presence of various councilors, local residents, hospitality entrepreneurs, shop owners and other interested parties. After a presentation by mayor Anton Ederveen about future Valkenswaard and by Ruud Dubbeld / MTD about the biography and redevelopment plans for the center of Valkenswaard, a visualization on the west part of the Markt was revealed, regarding the future plan for the Markt in which the themes ‘green’ and ‘leafy’ play a determining role.
The refurbishment of the Markt in Valkenswaard is part of a bigger plan: the redesign of the public space of the center of Valkenswaard. In February of 2015 MTD received from the municipality of Valkenswaard the commission to set up a redevelopment plan in a participatory process with local residents, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders.
The preliminary design will be completed in the summer of 2016. The coming years the redesign of the public area of Valkenswaard will be completed in phases. We will keep you posted!
