Thales and ’t Brouwhuis nominated for BNA Best Building of the Year 2015

There are still nine buildings in the race for the BNA Best Building of the Year 2015 award. The panel of judges, under the leadership of Wim Pijbes (the Director of Rijksmuseum) nominated a total of nine buildings spread over three categories.
In the category Identity & Iconic Value:
• Rotterdam Central Station by Benthem Crouwel architects, MVSA Meyer en Van Schooten Architecten and West 8;
• Market hall Rotterdam by MVRDV;
• Westbeemster cheese dairy by Bastiaan Jongerius architects.
In the category Stimulating Environments:
• Waalsdorp Montessori School in The Hague by De Zwarte Hond;
• Grotius building Radboud University Nijmegen by Benthem Crouwel architects;
• Thales High Tech Systems Park Hengelo by Leijh, Kappelhoff, Seckel, Van den Dobbelsteen Architecten, Reitsema & Partners architects and MTD landschapsarchitecten.
In the category Private Residential:
• ‘t Brouwhuis in Oisterwijk by Bedaux&de Brouwer Architecten, INAMATT interior architects and MTD landschapsarchitecten;
• IT residence in Deventer by Hoogte Twee Architecten
• Texel summer house in Oosterheerd by Benthem Crouwel architects.
MTD landschapsarchitecten was involved in two of the nine nominated projects. At Thales High Tech Systems Park Hengelo the company was responsible for the urban development plan, the development plan, and implementation preparations of the campus. For ’t Brouwhuis a design was prepared by MTD landschapsarchitecten for the wooded garden.

In their categories the nine nominated plans have been selected for their excellence in Dutch architecture and their importance for society, according to the panel of judges' chairman Wim Pijbes.
Besides the panel of judges' prize a public prize will also be awarded.
The nominees of the tenth edition, notwithstanding if they're a category winner or not, all have a chance to win the coveted title of BNA Best Building 2015. This year, aside from the BNA Best Building 2015 award, the panel of judges will also pick category winners for the very first time.
During the award presentations the panel of judges will announce who the category winners are, who will receive an honorary mention, and who is entitled to lay claim to the BNA Best Building 2015.
